Why become a partner?

In Built Not Born, Tom Golisano firmly states that in business, “…, all deals should be good for everyone involved. Win-win deals are an incredibly effective way to create long-lasting relationships.” This is how we approach our partnerships with both for-profit and non-profit organizations.

Current partners

Our employer partners play an essential role in our students’ journeys — opening doors to hands-on experiences, industry insights, and meaningful connections. In return, partners benefit from early access to rising talent and the chance to foster the next generation of business leaders.

Frequently asked questions

There is no cost to partner with Golisano Institute and the benefits to your organization are significant. What is required is the willingness of your organization to provide opportunities to Golisano Institute students such as jobs, internships, mentorship and shadowing opportunities as well as speaking to our students and providing a real-world lens on your particular business or industry.
The Vice President for Partnerships will serve as the point person for communication. A newsletter with up to date and timely information regarding Golisano Institute will be circulated among the partners throughout the year.
The partnership has a 2-year renewal process. Everything remains intact and business continues for the next two years. If a partner wishes to discontinue the partnership, we simply need 15 days notice, and the partnership will dissolve. However, the scholarships remain in effect through the end of the school year.
Highly experiential weekly symposiums and presentations held on Wednesdays and delivered by prominent business leaders from a wide range of industries. Speaking from Experience is an important and differentiating element of our curriculum that offers real world exposure and networking.
Mentoring is hosting a student to help them develop professionally as well as better understand the profession and what career success looks like within any given industry. This may take place over a quarter or several quarters depending on if the student demonstrates a strong desire to enter your field. Shadowing is when a student observes an employee of the partner organization. This can happen over a few hours or a few days. The goal is to provide industry insight and create a better understanding of how business operates by the student shadowing live on premise. Site visits provide access to groups of students to learn more about your operation. A faculty member may wish to bring their class to your facility for students to better understand the business operation in real-world terms.
Simply reach out to the Vice President for Partnerships and in conjunction with the Career Development Team, students will be recommended to our Partner base. Further, an interview day will be scheduled to meet with our students in person. Partners can select from interested students and explain the benefits and value of the internship or job that is available. If a Partner would like to advertise an internship or job, just let us know and we’ll be happy to share the best way to reach our students.
