Matangi Buch

Assistant Vice President,
Chief Technology Officer

With more than 25 years of experience leading all aspects of information technology, Matangi comes to Golisano Institute from a previous post as Managing Director, Technology Performance Office at Emergent Holdings in Lansing, Michigan. She’s spent her career building teams of enterprise architects, analysts, developers, and for billion-dollar organizations. Matangi says was drawn to Golisano Institute because of the school’s unwavering commitment to providing students with hands-on experience and real-world exposure. In her role here, Matangi finds inspiration in helping remove technological obstacles for students, faculty, and staff. It’s her way of contributing to one of the school’s values that speaks to her most: “empowering.” That’s because “Empowering individuals gives them a sense of autonomy and self-confidence, creating critical thinkers and problem solvers who are not afraid to take risks and make decisions,” she says. Outside of work, Matangi likes to read, play tennis, meet new people, and spend time with friends. One of her favorite spots in the region is Letchworth State Park, where she loves to go hiking.
