Dr. Ervin Starr
Lead Entrepreneurship Faculty
With expertise across the private, public, and non-profit sectors, Ervin brings decades of experience in teaching personal finance, strategic management, and entrepreneurship to his role here. Most recently, he taught entrepreneurship and management at Roberts Wesleyan University. He also has a successful track record as an entrepreneur himself, having launched a furniture retailer Laflammes Inc. and a Snap Fitness franchise. Ervin has coached business owners as well as non-profit leaders and community developers. Among the values here that that speak to him, he points to integrity, caring, and courageousness. “Being courageous is foundational to moving when fear and uncertainty can hold you in place,” he says. The power of laughter helps, too, he says. “I love to bring a sense of humor to the classroom alongside all the thoughtful questions and discussions about how business can create a healthier community,” Ervin says. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors across every season of the year. Ervin and his wife have three children.
