Mike has worn many hats throughout his 15 years in education, including teaching subjects like biology, astronomy, physics, engineering, robotics, and computer science. He has also taken on roles as an instructional leader, curriculum planner, and instructional technologist. As a professional, he is driven by a commitment to empowering students and educators, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to achieve their goals and become lifelong learners. In his role as a Learning Engineer, Mike looks forward to collaborating with faculty to create unparalleled learning experiences that blend cutting-edge instructional practices with innovative technology. He aims to foster a dynamic environment where students flourish as business professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders, and well-rounded individuals.  Outside work, Mike enjoys exploring, whether hiking the wonderful trails in the Rochester area or meditating and exploring the inner environment of consciousness. He can also be found in his workshop, focused on his latest engineering, computing, or gardening project.

Which Golisano Institute value is most important to you and why?
Empowering is the value that is most important to me. My career in education has been driven by a commitment to empowering students and educators. I strive to provide them with the essential knowledge and skills they need to achieve their goals and become lifelong learners. Empowering others is one of my core life purposes, and it involves fostering an environment where individuals can discover and pursue their own life’s purposes.

Three fun facts

  1. My 2002 record time for the 1600m track event at my high school, Byron-Bergen (go Bees!), still stands today.
  2. I love learning new things and have recently taken up welding.
  3. I have forever struggled to come up with a third fun fact about myself, which might just be the third fun fact!
